My dream in life is to make a difference in the life of others. I believe this can be achieve by providing people with high quality and sound education.
This prompted my thinking of how I can make education accessible and affordable to our teaming youths.
I am now full of excitement that I have founded an exceptional institution of learning that comes to be one of the innovative and leading private universities in Africa and the world that offers various degree programs in many discipline.
About Hajia Maryam Abacha
The University is established in honor of Her Excellency Hajia Maryam Abacha who was the wife of General Sani Abacha – the military ruler of Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1998.
As the first lady of Nigeria, she was known for her charitable works and advocacy for women and children. She established the Family Support Program (FSP) in 1994, which improved the living conditions of families, especially those living in poverty.
Hajia Maryam Abacha was also an active member of the African First Ladies Peace Mission, which worked to promote peace and development in Africa.
Hajia Maryam Abacha continued to pursue her passion for philanthropy even after her husband’s death, and leading role in establishing Maryam Abacha American University of Niger in 2013. Today, we are is one of the most prestigious in the country and serves as a testament to her enduring legacy.
